MCIC was built by community members who care deeply about what makes Moscow special and who wanted a concrete, democratic way to help it stay that way.
Born in Moscow, built for Moscow
A group of Moscow community champions began meeting in the summer of 2024, united by a shared belief: that the spaces where Moscow’s community gathers, works, and creates should remain accessible and equitable for the people who call this place home.
Their answer was a cooperative: a structure where ownership is collective, governance is democratic, and the mission isn’t profit maximization but community benefit. No single group, interest, or investor holds outsized control. Every owner gets one vote.
MCIC is that cooperative. We exist to purchase, restore, and steward properties in Moscow so that local character, local business, and local decision-making stay rooted here.
MISSION STATEMENT
MCIC empowers its owners and investors to purchase, improve, and manage properties to realize our shared vision for a socially and culturally vibrant, welcoming community where all can thrive.
GOVERNANCE
How decisions get made
MCIC follows cooperative principles: one owner, one vote. The Board of Directors is elected by members and provides strategic oversight, while committees handle day-to-day operations.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Elected by owners. Accountable for strategy, financial decisions, and major communications.
COMMITTEES
Drives membership growth, manages communications, and connects the co-op to the broader community.
Owners & Investors
Vote on key decisions, attend meetings, shape priorities, and help recruit new members.
Full Transparency
Bylaws are publicly available. Financial reporting and governance decisions are shared with all members.
Meet the MCIC Board
MCIC’s Board is made up of Moscow-area community members serving as volunteers. They are elected by the ownership and accountable to it and they’re the people doing the work of getting this cooperative off the ground.
